3 Easy Things To Do Before You Start The Day- Self Improvement

For the longest time, I had this bad habit of waking up in the morning and the first thing I would do was roll over to grab my phone. With blurry morning vision, would immediately check emails, and my socials, and after about 20mins or so would get up to start the day. I found that having that urgent “check emails and socials” as soon as you open your eyes would often leave me starting my day with a negative state of mind. There was nothing beneficial about it.

So I started to read online about ways to get “your day started right”. Everything I read seemed like a lot of work and I would most likely not stay consistent. I needed a simple system. One that I could do anywhere, even when I was traveling. So I came up with something that would only take a few minutes each morning. These are my 3 easy things to do before you start the day for self-improvement.

Try doing the below 3 things for 2-4 weeks, consistently, and see how you feel.

List 3 Things You Love About Yourself

How about you open your eyes and immediately train your brain to think of 3 things that you love about yourself. Say them to yourself or out loud. If you have time, I highly recommend writing them down. Either in some sort of journal or in your phone notes. After you write them down, say them out loud. I know it sounds silly but there has been scientific research that has shown the importance of writing goals down, visually seeing them, and also repeating them to yourself out loud. A good habit to implement in your self-improvement journey.

How Do You Really Feel Right Now

In an ideal world, everything would be pleasant and perfect all the time. But we don’t live in an ideal world and I’m a realist. This is why I feel it’s important to honor your feelings and emotions as you experience them. I think ignoring your true feelings is not allowing you the full capacity to grow and evolve. So whether you have negative feelings, meh feelings, or positive ones, acknowledge them all. Give your feelings the space in your mind and heart so that you can process them NOT just the positive ones. All of your feelings are important for your self-improvement.

Recall A Memory Where You Felt The Happiest

Once you have a self-check of where you are emotion-wise, recall a memory that made you super happy and brought you joy. Close your eyes and let that feeling fill your body with all those feel-good vibes. You want that to fill your body from your head to your toes. Even if you are going through a super rough chapter in your life, spending 1-2 minutes recalling a beautiful memory can be extremely beneficial to you and your health.
