Fashion Blogger Photoshoot Tips: Ways to Prepare
Recently, I had my very first photo shoot working with a photographer. I usually do a lot of my own photography but I thought it would be fun to work with another photographer to help capture some fun images I can use on my social media platforms. I was really nervous about the photo shoot since it was my first time but I did learn a few things that I thought may be helpful to share.
Ways to Prepare for Blogger Photoshoot
Find Inspiration
Have a vision of what you would like your pictures to look like. Take screenshots of images that are similar to the vision you have for your shoot. Share your inspiration with your photographer ahead of time so that they can help with ideas and photo locations.
Find a Photographer That Fits with Your Style
This may be the most important part of your photoshoot. Communicating your vision, your branding style, and the feel you would like is very important to share with your photographer. Photographers also have their own brand and style that they need to stay true to. I highly recommend spending a few minutes on the phone to go over all this with each other prior to photoshoot.
What to Wear
Depending on the amount of time you have scheduled with your photographer you will need between 2-4 outfits. Have them ready a few days before your shoot. Send pictures of the outfits to your photographer so that he/she can get ideas on how to shoot them. Be sure to have all clothes ironed and that they all fit well (Trust me on this, I learned the hard way at my 1st shoot, oops!).
If you are unsure of how something looks on you, take a few pictures with your phone. That way you can see if you like how your clothes photograph for the shoot ( I wish I had done that too, lesson learned).
Accessories/Props
Bring some fun accessories or props with you. Items like purses, hats, sunglasses, a notebook, umbrella, flowers etc. The list is endless but don’t be afraid to bring things with you that can make the pictures authentic to you .
Makeup
Sunscreen and products with sunscreen do not photograph well. Use a good foundation and concealer for under your eyes. Also, go a tad bit heavier on your makeup since sometimes lighting can wash you out.
Just remember don’t go overboard since you may not like the end result. Bring your makeup with you so that you can quickly touch up in between outfit changes.
Breathe and Have Fun
This, like anything else, is a learning experience. The more you do it the better understanding you will have for your next photo shoot. Have fun and don’t stress
Hope this has helped in some way.
