How to Deck Out Your 4th of July Table in Style
May 2024
The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays. It is not only my son’s birthday (Yes, he was born on the 4th!) but also a special time when we gather to celebrate with fireworks, friends, and of course, fabulous backyard food. But before you fire up the grill and put on your best red, white, and blue attire, let’s talk about how to make your 4th of July table spectacular. Here are some festive decorating tips that will hopefully help you when putting your table together.
Colors: Red, White, and Blue
The 4th of July, it’s all about red, white, and blue! I like to start by using a crisp white tablecloth on my table since it makes the colors blue and red pop. Then, I like adding blue or red cloth napkins, and star melamine outdoor plates, along with some patriotic decor. Mix and match patterns like stripes and stars to add interest.
4th of July Centerpieces
Your centerpiece should not be super complicated. Keep it simple! Fill a mason jar with a bouquet of red and white flowers—think roses, carnations, or even daisies. Add a few blue delphiniums for that pop of blue. For a whimsical touch, stick in some mini American flags. If flowers aren’t your thing, a bowl of red apples can do the trick-edible decor is always a win! I used this red mason jar with stars on it as my centerpiece and added a candle inside.
Festive Dinnerware
Plain red, white, and blue melamine plates are perfect for this holiday. Or, you can get creative with disposable options that look chic but don’t require post-party dish duty. Tie each set of utensils with a red, white, and blue ribbon for an extra festive flair, or add a glittery firework decor to your plate and decor.
Guest Favors
Send your guests home with a little piece of the party. Fill small mason jars or cellophane bags with red, white, and blue candies. Tie them with a ribbon and attach a sparkler for a send-off that’s as sweet as it is sparkling. Or, another idea is to send everyone home with a flag-printed hand fan. Not only will it keep your guest cool outside but it makes for a cute favor to take home.
Deliciously Decorated Desserts
No 4th of July table is complete without a yummy dessert. Think red velvet cupcakes with blue frosting, or a white cake with layers of red and blue berries. For a fun twist, make a DIY sundae bar with red (cherry), white (vanilla), and blue (blueberry) ice cream. OR serve this no fuss no bake dessert.
With these tips, your 4th of July table will be whimsical and memorable. So go ahead, deck out your table in all its patriotic glory, and get ready for a celebration that’s as bright and bold as the stars and stripes themselves. Happy Independence Day!
