DIY Abstract Canvas Wall Art

Several weeks ago, I attended the Toast & Twirl Workshop and got to make a DIY Abstract Canvas Wall Art. If you haven’t heard of this workshop, it’s a premiere craft workshop held in Houston, TX. There are several scheduled throughout the year and if you are crafty, I suggest checking it out.
I thought this DIY Abstract Canvas Wall Art would make for an easy craft idea for a kid’s party or a great girl’s night out activity.
Before we get started, I wanted to be sure I credit Callie from Shop Callie Danielle. With this creative idea! Give her a visit on her Etsy page if you have a chance.

Things You Will Need:
First Step
Before you get started on this DIY Abstract Canvas Wall Art, be sure to lay out a tarp or a disposable tablecloth (the ones you find at a dollar store work awesome) on your work surface. This will make for easy cleanup and keep your furniture clean.
Once you have your surface covered, select the acrylic paint colors that you would like to use on your canvas. Think about where you may use this piece and what colors would mix well.
**Canvas size- Can be as big or as small as you like**
Second Step
Place small dollops of paint on your canvas. Don’t worry too much about where you place the colors. Just make sure you make the dollops small since you can always add more paint as you go.

Third Step
Use a painters spatula (you can find these at Home Depot or Lowes in the paint area) to spread and blend the paint across your canvas.

Fourth Step
You can also get creative and add gold foils to your canvas to add a little sparkle to your artwork.

Fifth Step
Be sure to let your canvas dry for 12-24hrs. Once it’s done, hang and enjoy your own personal masterpiece.

I hope you enjoyed this DIY Abstract Canvas Wall Art project. It’s so easy to do and really would make for a great party idea if you are looking for something low maintenance. You don’t have to be an artist and it doesn’t have to be perfect. Does it get any better than that?!
