Bedroom Makeover Tips: One Room Challenge

Our bedroom used to be my least favorite room in our house since it was a collection of items that we collected over the years. Nothing really went together and it for sure did not have a cozy relaxing feel to it. One day I was scrolling Instagram and I came across a post for a ONE ROOM Challenge and thought to myself, “This may be the motivation I need to get that master bedroom in order!”. So I signed up and the rest is history as they say 🙂

Today I am sharing some of my master bedroom makeover tips that helped me during the One Room Challenge.

5 Tips For A Master Bedroom Makeover:

Have a Vision for the Space: Do you want the space to be modern, traditional, country, eclectic, boho chic, or a little of everything?  Really think about the feeling you want to create when you walk into the room. For our space, I wanted a space that was light, airy, and cozy.             bedroom-makeover-one-room-challenge-5

Create a Vision Board: This helped me so much when planning. I would cut out images that I would find in magazines and would print images from the internet of things that I liked. This step was so helpful in taking my vision from thoughts to actually being able to see it all come together.

Plan out your Makeover: Break down your makeover by how many weeks you would like it to be finished by. For example, Week 1- Paint walls, Install Floors  Week 2- Shop for Furniture pieces Week 3 Shop for accent pieces …you get the idea :). It helps to break down each week so you don’t feel overwhelmed and you can stay on track. Give yourself a few days in between each week just in case. The extra planned days can act like a buffer if unforeseen things should come up.

Buy Pieces You Love: It’s easy to find yourself buying pieces “just because” you need to fill in a space. Try not to do that. Important to find pieces that you connect with and that you will love seeing in your space. Items with meanings can add a whole level of comfort to a space. Try not to fall into the trap of getting pieces that you “kind of like”. Invest in pieces that you LOVE.
