Random Acts of Kindness – Texas Children’s Hospital
Did you know that today is national random acts of kindness day? I’m super excited to announce that this year my family is partnering up with Toyota to make it extra special.
Toyota has a long history and dedication to supporting the local community here in Houston (and beyond). On Random Acts of Kindness Day, they have teamed up with my family in giving back to the community by providing $1,000 in toy donations to be donated to the Texas Children’s Hospital
About The Children’s Hospital
Texas Children’s Hospital is located in Houston, Texas. It’s a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to create a healthier future for children by leading in patient care, education and research. Offering hope, comfort, and healing to children who require complex care with world-class physicians and scientists, along with state of the art facilities.
Texas Children’s Hospital is consistently ranked among the top children’s hospitals in the country. Currently, Texas Children’s Hospital is third* in the country, and is one of only 10 children’s hospitals to achieve Honor Roll designation.
Donating To The Children’s Hospital
There are many ways to help the hospital. You can give monetary donations, attend their events, become a volunteer and even donate items that the hospital gives to their patients to make there stay more enjoyable and special.
As a family, we wanted to help the hospital with toys they needed for kids. The hospital sees an influx in donations over the holidays but is in need of toys and items year-round. So when Toyota reached out to say they wanted my family to help, we knew without hesitation we wanted to be a part of this incredible opportunity of giving back!
Random Acts of Kindness Day
Even though this wasn’t entirely “random” it was an exciting campaign for me to be a part of it since it involved my whole family. I think it’s important for children to see their parents serve their communities. To see an example of what that looks like.
A beautiful way to demonstrate care towards others and to give back to our community in a super fun way that kids could really connect with. It also teaches them to do random acts of kindness throughout their lives and when opportunities present themselves.
Toyota lent us their 2020 Tundra 1794 Edition Crewmax to use to shop and also drop off the toys for the kids. It’s a comfortable ride for a family of 5, with plenty of extra room. It also has a ton of safety features like a backup camera, blind-spot monitor and the Toyota safety sense.
Time To Buy $1000 In Toys
When I first told the kids what we were going to do they couldn’t believe that they were going to be able to spend $1000 on TOYS. Every kid’s dream right? A toy shopping spree! And not only that they were so happy to be a part of making a difference in a child’s life during their stay at Texas Children’s Hospital.
We decided as a family to stop at Walmart on the way to the hospital. We knew we could really make the money stretch there and get tons of stuff.
We showed the kids the list of toys that were appropriate for donating and grabbed two carts and began to shop!
It was fun picking out things that we thought the kids would like. And it was even more fun watching the faces of people at the store looking at us while we piled so many toys into our carts. Haha!
Some people asked what we were doing and we took the time to explain how we were buying toys for the children’s hospital. Several people that heard the story were so touched that they wanted to get involved too.
We tried to get different toys for different ages. We wanted to make sure we got a variety of stuff. To know that we could help brighten a day for a young child was so rewarding for my whole family.
Easy To Donate
It was very easy to donate the items. We were told to park at Valet and staff from the volunteer/donation department would come to meet us with carts that we could load up with our donations. We signed a donation form and that was pretty much it.
One of the easiest ways to donate ever!
If you are looking for ways to help Texas Children’s Hospital visit HERE and if you are looking for ideas on what to donate call the volunteer/donation office to see what their current needs are.
Thank you to Toyota for making this one of the best experiences we had as a family. Its good to be able to give back and help make a difference.
Hope this inspires you all to help your community in some way today, on Random Acts of Kindness Day and every day 😉
Much Love,
