The Easiest DIY Balloon Garland Tutorial

Have you seen those beautiful balloon garlands and thought there was no way you could create one? They look super intimidating, right? Today I’m hoping to help change that thinking. These balloon garlands are way easier to make than they look.
What will you need to make a balloon garland?
- Balloons of different colors and sizes
- Balloon Garland Tape
- Electric Balloon Blower
- Twine, Command hooks or fishing line to hang garland
- Glue Dots (to use to add smaller balloons to fill in empty spots)
The Easiest DIY Balloon Garland Tutorial
Here are my THREE easy steps to create this DIY balloon garland that will give your next party that WOW factor, promise!
FIRST STEP:
Take your balloon tape and measure the space you want to create a balloon garland for. Then inflate a variety of balloons that are of different colors and sizes and set them aside.

Second Step:
Once you have your balloon tape measured out and balloons inflated, it’s time to build your garland. Insert the balloon knot into the large hole and slide it into the smaller hole to secure it.

Third Step:
You can use command hooks, twine, or fishing line to secure the balloon garland into place. I didn’t have a fishing line on hand so I ended up using twine to secure it. This is also helpful when you need to move or adjust the garland/balloons around.

Additional Questions You May Have
How many balloons do you need for a garland?
This will all depend on the length of your garland. It’s one of the reasons I like using balloon tape .I measure it out for the area I will be making the garland for, then count the holes. It gives me a very good idea of how many balloons I will be using.

How far in advance can I make a balloon Garland?
I would recommend making it as close as possible to the event date. The reason for this is that if you make it too far in advance some balloons may deflate and you will have to add new balloons to the garland. I’m all about working smarter not harder But with that being said I would make it one or two days before the event.

How long will a balloon garland last?
Larger balloons have a tendency to stay inflated longer than smaller ones. Typically garlands can last for about 7- 18 days, sometimes longer.

How to you keep them from popping in the sun
That’s a really good question, Monica. Did you make a garland? Ballons popped? I normally keep mine indoors so never had that problem. But I recently made one for my daughter’s 13th bday and we had it outdoors. Several popped from the sun. I don’t really know if there is a way to stop it but if I find out anything will let you know here.
Don’t inflate them too much…balloons expand in the heat. If you blow them up too much there is no room for expansion and they will pop. Hope this helps!
