The Hilton Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort Getaway
As a wife, mom of three, and running a digital content business from home, my life has a tendency to feel go-go-go A LOT. Sometimes, if I don’t force myself to slow down, I can literally run myself ragged without even knowing it. I usually don’t even recognize that I am running myself ragged until I DO finally take the time to stop and relax. That’s when I’m like, “Wow, I needed that”. Can you relate?
A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to take a 4 day trip to the Destin, Florida area with my friend Dawn. We decided it would be fun to drive from Houston rather than fly. We could take that time to sit and catch up with life, work, and family. The drive there took us about 11.5 hours (on the way back 10.5hrs). We took our time and stopped twice on the way there. We also got lucky and hit no traffic on the way there (zero traffic on the way home) except for a small little patch that only lasted a few minutes. If you do decide to drive, I recommend driving in the early morning hours. It stinks to get up early but it definitely helps with decreasing your chances of traffic etc.
In full transparency: The Hilton Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort hosted our stay so that we could share our personal experiences with our readers. Everything I share below is my own experience, perspective, and personal opinions of the resort.
The Hilton Sandestin Location
DID YOU KNOW? That The Hilton Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort is the largest beachfront hotel in northwest Florida??! I didn’t know that. The location is absolutely perfect. Sits right on the beach! Our room had a balcony overlooking the pool and beach. It was nice to sit on our own private balcony and listening to waves. I would open the sliding glass door, every morning, to hear the waves as well. It was the best way to start the day!
The Hilton Sandestin Restaurants
The hotel has 7 dining options right on the property. From a breakfast buffet, a coffee shop that serves Starbucks coffee and even sushi! You can go from casual beach dining to getting dressed up for a 4 diamond dining experience. It’s really up to you. There is literally a little bit of everything here and the best part is never having to leave the property. Dawn and I loved eating lunch every day at Barefoot’s Beachside Bar & Grill. We ordered their steamed shrimp every day. It was fresh and so good! I would also recommend trying their Bush Whacker drink. We saw a bunch of people drinking them and asked what they were. We ordered them and they tasted just like a dessert. Check out the list of hotel restaurants, HERE.
The Hilton Sandestin Beach Set-Up
One of my favorites services that the hotel provides is their beach set. Even though we drove to the hotel we didn’t want to pack beach chairs, umbrellas, etc. It was so convenient to make a beach set-up reservation and the staff would have our reclining chairs and umbrella all set up for us when we got to the beach. If you are more into relaxing by the pool the hotel has got you covered. They have 3 pools and 2 whirlpools on-site.
Spa
Because this trip was all about recharging and relaxing, I wanted to make sure I utilized their spa which is right on site! Actually, we stayed in the Spa tower so all we had to do was take the elevator down a few floors to get to the spa. Super easy. The hotel’s world-class Serenity by the sea spa was absolutely wonderful. I got a Swedish massage, sat in the whirlpool, and enjoyed their sauna. As a guest of the hotel, you also have complimentary access to their 24-hour fitness center.

Biking/ Walking/ Running trails
The property boasts over 15 miles of trails that you can use to keep up with your workouts during your stay. Whether you bike, walk or run, their trails provide a safe way to stay on the property. I did have plans to work out while I was there but instead really took the opportunity to unwind and even take naps. I did however really appreciate that the trails were available to me (if and when I did want to run). The trails felt safe running alone if I chose to.
Golf
If you are into golfing or would like to spend the day hitting the links, The Hilton Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort has 4 incredible and recognized golf courses. Some featured in Golf Digest and The Raven golf course was home to the 2006 and 2007 Boeing Championships – a stop on the PGA Champions Tour. For more golf course info click HERE.
Shopping
If shopping is your thing, you will be pleasantly surprised with the incredible options available very close to the hotel. These are 3 of the shopping areas I really liked.
Silver Sands Factory Stores 2miles from hotel
The Market Shops at Sandestin 1mile from hotel
Village at Baytowne Wharf 1.4miles from the hotel ( I attended the San Destin Wine Festival here. Which was so much fun. They host it every year.)
