Three Easy Steps To Host A Spring Time Get Together
When I think of spring, I think of happy, bright and airy. A celebration of new beginnings and a new season in our lives. A great time to bring loved ones together for a spring time get together.
Hosting a festive spring time get together doesn’t have to be stressful. Just keep it simple and don’t be afraid to enlist in local resources in areas you need help with.
Often times, I hear people say “I’m not really a cook” or “I’m not really a party planner”. I want to help give everyone the confidence to be able to host their own fun spring get together without it being overwhelming.
Step One:
Start with creating a vision. When brainstorming ideas, writing them down can be helpful in getting a clear vision for the event.
Ask yourself, will it be day or night event? Indoor or outdoor? Casual or formal? Theme or no theme? Certain mood or feel you would like to achieve?
Step Two:
Once you have an idea for a party vision, it’s time to start on creating a guest list. In my opinion, this is actually a big step in the planning process. If you’re not a party-thrower, keep your guest list small and manageable.
Part of step two is whether or not it will be an adult only party or kid/pet friendly party. Communicating your intentions from start will help your guests plan for childcare if necessary and it won’t put you, the host, in awkward situation when someone asks after the get the invite.
Step Three:
So now that you have your vision and guest list together, it’s time to start working on the details. This is where non-party planning people can get stressed out the most.
What are the things you feel comfortable doing and what are the areas you don’t? If you love making appetizers but the main entree sends you into panic mode, have the entree catered by a local favorite restaurant to eliminate that undo stress.
If creating a tablescape is not your cup of tea, ask a local store to help you with some decorating ideas. There are tremendous amount of resources that surround all of us and I encourage each of you to think outside of the box and enlist in local businesses to help you.
You can still have a fancy little party at your house, and no one needs to know it was catered or that you had help planning it out.
