Tips to Organize Food Storage Containers
**Thank you to the Container Store for sponsoring this post**
I’m always looking for ways to organize my home to be more efficient with time and money. With food being a huge expense, proper food storage containers and having them easy to find can be one way to help.
Today, I’m sharing some of my tips to organize food storage containers right before the holidays. Just think of all those amazing leftovers ;).YUM!
Tips to Organize Food Storage Containers
The first step to get things organized is to take a look at what you already own. Group things together (containers with lids, small ones, rectangle ones etc). Throw away containers that have any cracks/chips/damage or don’t seal properly. The container you store it in, needs to properly seal to not let any air in.The smallest crack or damage can let air in quickly to make your food soggy and go bad.
If you need to purchase or replenish containers:
Will you be using in the oven to reheat? Maybe glass ones are best for you. They can go from fridge, to oven and microwave.
Will you be using them to store leftovers to give friends and family? Perhaps plastic ones are a better option since they are light weight and cost less.
Every home has different needs. What works in one home, may not work for another.Taking the time to plan out what your specific needs are can make this a super fun project. Also, stores like The Container Store have endless options for any size space and organization project. Plus their staff is super helpful too. Don’t be afraid to ask them for help.
Questions to Ask Yourself…
What space will you be using to store your containers? Dimensions of space? How you would like your food storage containers grouped (lids together, glass with glass, plastic with plastic etc)?May seem silly but these are questions to help you understand what products to invest your money in.
Products that Organize
For my family, we needed food storage containers lower to the floor so kids could easily reach them to help store food.We also needed the containers and lids to be easy to find by sizes. Which is why I decided to get the YouCopia StoraStack Drawer Organizer , White Mesh Food Storage & Lid Organizer with pull out easy glider. These help keep lids and containers separate but also easy to access.
Now is a great time to get things cleaned up and organized before the holidays. Hope you enjoyed learning some of my tips to organize food storage containers.
