Universal Standard – Women’s Plus Size Clothing

My focus with social media has always been to help women. Women of all shapes, sizes, and from different cultural backgrounds. When I was asked to interview the founders of Universal Standard Fashion, I knew immediately it was something I just HAD to do.I love what Alexandra Waldman and Polina Veksler have done. They saw a need, had a vision, and created a clothing line for plus size women sizes 10-28.  Not only do their pieces look good, they also use great quality materials. BUT the real difference lies in their mission. It’s NOT just about the clothing, it goes way deeper than that. It’s about how a woman feels, where she’s at, in the present moment.

The New Age of Plus Size Clothing

Did you know the average size of the American woman is a 14 or larger? It’s a fact, that plus size women have been overlooked for way too long. Although, in recent years, there have been some advancements with plus sized models gracing magazine covers and walking down runaways there still was a great need for quality clothing options for plus sized women. Universal Standard saw the need and has committed themselves to bringing quality fashion to women that may have felt ignored by clothing brands for years.

The Women Behind Universal Standard

Alexandra and Polina are determined and focused to revolutionize plus size fashion for women. From start to finish, they have carefully thought of every detail. From the quality of fabrics, to versatile styles, and to even making shopping easier with an 8-piece starter kit and a 4-piece starter kit. They have also paid close attention to details including weight fluctuations and body changes. A program, called Universal Fit Liberty, was started to help support women with their weight and body changes.  It’s a program designed for  women who purchase pieces from the core collection. If your size changes within a year of purchase you are able to exchange it for a new size for FREE! The best part is that your old pieces will be laundered and donated to charities dedicated to helping women.

The Future

I feel this is just the beginning for Universal Standard and they are about to pave a path that will be one marked for history. No more sacrificing and compromising for personal style. Options are available. It’s time that millions of women feel they too can have options when it comes to fashion.

“I learned style iconning at my mother’s knee. She could pick up a necklace and weave it into her hair, or wear a men’s coat with galoshes and make it look cool. She showed me that everything can be beautiful if you only look at it right.”

– Alexandra Waldman
