Why It’s Absolutely Okay To Not Be Okay

This is a tough blog post for me to write. I haven’t really said much about what has been happening in the world in the last few months, and I know that is partly due to feeling completely overwhelmed. Everything is coming at me fast and at full speed that I have never fully had the time to process it all. For someone like myself, who has had experience with PTSD, sometimes my way of coping is going into self-preservation mode. Basically I shut down. It’s my way of protecting myself. Maybe some of you can relate to doing this too.

The last few months have been super intense and emotions running high, which has caused many of us to struggle with stress. It’s hard to try to make sense of how our lives have changed, drastically, in a short amount of time. To add to that life challenge, there is this messaging circulating on social media, tv, etc that is making us feel that we all need to be on some sort of life journey of growth and development. Now, it’s absolutely ok to encourage that (I am all for awareness and education) but if one feels like they are forced into a self-help journey, that’s not positive at all.

I’m a firm believer that everything in life is about timing. Timing is key. YOU have to be ready to take the necessary steps to evolve and expand, NOT when someone says you need/have to. This underlying tone of what one’s life or actions need to look like right now seems to be based on a lot of judgments. Personally, I find this troubling.

When it comes to progressing and improving, there are significant steps one needs to take. Each step requires an incredible amount of time, effort, and most importantly self-acknowledgment. No one can force that process on anyone if they are not ready for it. If you are checking off boxes, just because, then it won’t do anyone any good in the long run.

So if you’re feeling overwhelmed or feel the weight of the world on your shoulders right now, you are not alone. It’s completely normal to feel engulfed with everything that’s going on right now. Which is why I am here to say, it’s absolutely okay to not be okay.

Super important to not look at someone’s journey and judge it. Everyone is navigating through all this in their own way and there is no one right way to do it. I wanted to put this message out there since I don’t want anyone feeling like they are not good enough or are failing in any way. Even if you are still trying to process things and still can’t fully grasp stuff, that’s ok too!

The most important thing is the placement of your mind, heart, and spirit. Get those in line with your beliefs and moral compass. Work on yourself. Figure out what areas you can change, improve on, and when you are ready, do it! On your own timeline, no one else’s.

And remember, that it’s absolutely okay to not be okay in this thing called life.

Much love your way sweet friends.
